I was asked recently to define the word "friend". Surpisingly, I could not come up with words. Instead, I came up with images of my "friends" in my mind so I began to say their names. The asker of the question said, "That won't work, I need a definition." Again, I gave their names and was told that was a nice thought, but not the defnition that he wanted.
After much thought, here is my definition of a friend. And, in my definition, friends names appear because these are the folks that I think of when I think of friends.
1.) A good listener (Cory, Lindsay, Rhain)
2.) A great sense of humor (Lindsay, Bruce, Dave, Kerri, Nathan)
3.) A resource for common sense and advice (too many to list)
4.) A mentor (Lynn, Randy, Karl, Todd, Cory, Mom)
5.) Honest (Kerri, Cory, Eric, Joey, Molly, Mom)
6.) Someone that I want in my life
That's my definition. It's not what the asker of the question wanted but too bad. It works for me.
